Edward Weston
Edward Weston was a 20th century American photographer, Weston takes a variety of styles, but I personally like his portrait style of photographs, his images aren't of the clearest and is not of the best quality but it shows character and personality. He was born 24th March 1886 and died 1st January 1958. Weston was described as an "influential American photographer".
Lee Friedlander
Lee Friedlander (14th July 1934) was an American photographer. he was born and raised in Aberdeen, Washington who then went on to study photography. He later moved to New York City where he then photographed jazz musicians for album covers. I chose to research this artist with the style portrait because he uses light and its composition to create portraits that a contrast and emotion to the images.
Cecil Beaton
Cecil Beaton (14th January 1904 - 18th January 1980 was an English photographer who focused on taking portrait, fashion and war photographs. Annie Leibovitz was born 2nd October 1949. She is an American Photographer who's work has been viewed and used by many, Leibovitz is a portrait photographer who used celebrities as her subjects. Fashion Photography
Peter Lindbergh
Peter Lindbergh is a German photographer and film director. He was born on the 23rd November 1944. Although Lindbergh is known for his cinematic images, I chose to research this art for fashion photography because I thoroughly enjoy reviewing his work and I cannot wait t experiment with his style of photography. His images has inspired me to make use of group photographs as it can therefore allow me to capture each individuals personality and character.
Brian Duffy
Brian Duffy was an English photographer as well as a film producer. This instantly implies that he has was a man who has a vision and knew what to look for within an image and films. Bailey was born on the 15th June 1933 - 31st May 2010.within his lifetime he was known for his fashion and portrait photography in the 60sand 70s. I like Duffy's photographs because the composition of his work was so carefully planned out. Majority of Duffy's images are vertical which adds height and almost a sense of movement in his images. his images use subjects that, in my opinion, represents the wealthier population within that time period showing happiness and serenity.
David Bailey
David Bailey is an English photographer, he was born on the 2nd January 1938. Bailey has undiagnosed dyslexia and has problems at school, I see Bailey as an inspiration because he never let that stand in his way of becoming a photographers and creating images that students such as myself would use and analyse. Bailey developed a love for natural history which then led his to kickstart his photography career. I particularly like Baileys images because he tends to use both the whole body and torso up in his photographs, I also like the fact that his images look the same but are still very different.
William Klein
William Klein is an American born French photographer. Klein was born on the 19th April 1928. He is famously known for photography, cinema and painting. From the basic information gathered, it is evident that he has a natural eye for art and it composition. his life is based around different art forms that inspire students like myself. Klein uses his subjects strategically by ensure that the composition of his subjects are vertical and will contrast that by using horizontal lines worn by the subjects. This forces the eye in the centre of the image so that the views can fixate on the contrasting lines.
Landscape Photography
David Muench
David Muench is an American freelance photographer in Santa Barbra, California. Muench focuses on landscape and nature images, he wants to portray the American Western landscape. I love the photographs taken by Muench, I think that he perfectly captures serenity and calmness within his images. The pop of colour created from the natural light and accurate timing explicitly shows a rush of emotion. I have no favourite image, I personally love all of the images.
Ansel Adams
Ansel Adams was an American landscape photographer as well as an environmentalist. His life was between 20th February 1902 - 22nd April 1984. Adams created black and white landscape images of mountains. His images contained leading lines which forces the human eye to the centre of the image. Due to the fact that Adams created black and white images it gave Adams the perfect opportunity to create photographs that contrasted and made small details such as the white snow on dark mountains stand out.
Nick Brandt
Nick Brandt is an American photographer who was born in 1964. Brandt began studying painting then moved onto studying film. in 1992 he then moved to California. in 2001, Brandt first embarked his photographic project. I chose to research this artist because I like how he used the use of wildlife within his landscape images. I personally think that it showcases natures beauty at its finest, I passes a rush of calm emotions throughout the viewers.
Galen Rowell
Galen Rowell was an American photographer. Rowell was born on the 23rd August 1940 and died on the11th August 2002. Rowell was a wilderness photographer, climber and a photojournalist. He was introduced to the wilderness from a young age and began mountain climbing from the age of 10. Rowell dropped out of the University of California to pursue his love of climbing. I find that Muench and Rowell take similar images, in the sense that he captures his scene with accurate timing to ensure that he got as much colour and light from the sun. I find landscape images such as Rowell's very pretty and very serene, I can't fault an image and I find artists such as Rowell to be very inspiring.
